Since the beginning of his career in 1989, Marc Anthony has become the best-selling salsa artist of all time, scoring countless gold- and multi-platinum-certified records, receiving five Grammy Awards and 13 Billboard Latino Awards to date. He has also won the prestigious Premio Lo Nuestro prize – awarded by the international Latin television channel Univision –19 times.
Marc Anthony has also developed a successful parallel career in the movie industry and on Broadway, participating in four feature films: Bringing Out the Dead ( Martin Scorsese , 1999); In The Time Of The Butterflies co-starring Salma Hayek in 2001; Man On Fire ( Tony Scott , 2004) with Denzel Washington and Christopher Walken; and in a role closer to his own life, portraying the legendary Puerto Rican salsa singer Hector Lavoe, alongside his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez in the drama El Cantante. Anthony has also sung on Broadway alongside Ruben Blades in Paul Simon's 1998 musical comedy Capeman.
